Service Providers¡¯ Perceptions of Housing Service Delivery for People with Psychiatric Disabilities
Kim Moon-Geun

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate service providers¡¯ perceptions of challenges in delivering housing services for people with psychiatric disabilities (PPDs). For this purpose this study investigated discussions among managers of group homes in Seoul.
According to this study, firstly, service providers think of group home as last resort for housing and care for PPDs without other alternatives. Secondly, they think the responsibility for ensuring quality housing for PPDs dumped on them even though they can not make a profit. Thirdly, service providers expressed discomforts and resistance against the housing service policy shifts from housing ready approach to supported housing. Lastly, they suggested diversifying housing facility types according to users¡¯ needs and introduction of coordinating organization to supports users and service providers.
Based on these findings, the author suggested revision of Housing Ready Model oriented regulations, attention to service providers¡¯negative sense making on housing policy transition, and providing public rental houses for housing service providers.
